Blogging

I have to say that I don’t like the blogs. I always refuse to use fotolog, blog, myspace or something like that. I don’t understand why other people like writing on internet things that nobody cares. In spite of this, use the blog for the class was a great experience. I think that is a good method to practice the writing in English and with that, improve the level of grammar. An advantage to make it in class is that you have Henry if you have a doubt that WordReference couldn’t resolve. Another advantage to work in class is that you don’t use time after the university and in that way you don’t affect other subjects. Maybe a disvantage is that not always you have imagination to write and when the theme that you have to write is not good for you, you need to pray to God, Allah and Krishna for inspiration (like now, I’m waiting the Divine Light to inspire me) and is more difficult after a whole day of class.

Whatever, I think that this way is a good idea for work and improve the writing and in that way “thinking” in English.

Cheryl, A Young Filmmaker

Before interview Cheryl I had to whait that she finished her speech . She was talking about Roman Polansky. After that, she acceeded to speak with me. Cheryl Marambio is a young cinema student. She is in the third year of her career at the Universidad de Chile. She lives in Conchalí, so she needs to travel from there  to Ñuñoa every day. In the trip, she likes listening to music. She says that she doesn’t like hearing the voices from the other people in the bus.

Speaking about cinema, she says that she has not a specific favourite genre of films, but her favourites filmmakers are Tarantino and Polansky. She likes the way that Tarantino tells the storys and, in the case of Polansky, she loves the topics that he treats in his films.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t feel well and she had to leave, so I couldn’t ask more things. I know that you want to know about the future of this young filmmaker, but I just can tell you that she is working in a short film that is going to be premiered soon.

Contemplation and Blood

Kim Ki-Duk is a South Korean filmmaker. He was born in 1960. At the age of 20 years he enlisted in the navy. Five years later he entered in a Buddhist temple and began to dedicate for painting.

He began to work in cinema at the late age of 33 years when he won a script competition. After this, he started a great career filming a new movie every year. He has participated in many important film festivals like Venice or Cannes.

Maybe his most known film is “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring” about a Buddhist monk and his apprentice. The long name of the film is because every season represent a part of life of the apprentice who started has a boy.

I really love how Kim Ki-Duk mixes different things, characters and atmospheres in his work. Quiet and contemplatives scenes with an extremely violence are mixed in a unique way. Other incredible thing is the use of the dialog in his films, like in 3-Iron, where the main characters never speak and we only hear the voices of second characters a few times.

JGM

Keep walking
If you want to move to any place of the campus, you have to walk. Inside the campus there are a lot of paths to get to any faculty or any place to get rest, to think, to talk with friends, to sleep in grass, etc. Maybe It could be confusing sometimes, but If you use them everyday you will be OK to get everywhere in the campus. Also you can help to other people who is lost in campus and get a new friend perhaps. But the campus is not small. You will have to walk a lot. BUY A CAR. Inside the campus there are car tracks too.

Buying  Movies
Outside  of Faculty of Philosophy you can find a great stock of different movies to a low cost. If they don’t have the film that you want, you can ask the seller if he can search and bring you the movie.

Tear Gas at Lunch
Sometimes the police get inside of the Campus looking for the hooded classmates. They throw small stones and hide in the Campus. To fight them, the police reply with tear gas. If you are eating, your food is going to taste more salted. When this happens, you dream with one of the few rooms with air conditioning. If you are lucky, you could be under arrest by a sweet police man.
